Oops, who put the door there?

This is Abu El-Haggag mosque in Luxor. It was built on top of Luxor temple when the temple was still half buried in the sand hence the door is so up. The mosque is said to be built in 13th century but perhaps the minaret is even older. The mosque has been through many renovations, also at the moment as you can see. The picture of the door is taken in 2005.

You can see a lot of these lights made of clay in Luxor, they do not look very pretty at first sight but they do look lovely in the evening.

Burning, burning. The air has been smoky for many days. I've no idea what's burning here on the west bank on 21st of April. Flames seem to be huge. Sugarcane fields???

There was a big fire near this church on 18th of April. Saw only one fire truck going there. The fire lasted a good while and smoke spread over the city and even Luxor temple.

Al Mashrabia, a local coffee shop in Luxor. It's the hottest daytime so the coffee shop is almost empty.

3rd of April

(1st of April) Sennefer coffee house is still standing but they have cleared the rooftop and now carrying furniture out. Houses in front of the coffee house have been already demolished earlier.
